My wire artistry originally grew from a desire to crack open rocks and see what was inside. I joined the Tampa Bay Mineral and Science Club to learn everything I could about rocks and minerals. I took to cutting cabochons like, as my instructor said, “a duck to water.” I soon had a pile of beautiful stones and no idea what to do with them! So I turned to another skill the Club teaches: Jewelry classes for the wire artist. There I discovered an unexpected natural ability to understand what a stone “wants” in terms of balance and harmony when wrapped into a pendant. Fast forward to the recent 2007 Strawberry Festival, where I was thrilled to receive the Neighborhood Champion (Best in Show) award for the Jewelry category.
I am a proud third-generation U.S. Postal Service employee serving the public in Sarasota , Florida . I am very grateful to my co-workers for their generous support of my jewelry-making “habit” by snapping up works as fast as I can create them! My other hobbies include games of all types, woodworking, karaoke, computer programming, and convention and festival management.
